A large tree that commonly grows up to 70 meters tall and 2 meters across when mature. Sitka spruce is valued for its wood, which is light, soft, and relatively strong and flexible. It is used for general construction, ship building and plywood. It grows along the coast in a narrow band from sea level to about 700 meters. Description from Tree Book
